Fair Parking
Friends of Music runs a large parking lot at the Marshfield Fair for 10 days every August. Fair Parking is a very important source of revenue for Friends of Music and a terrific opportunity for students and their parents to earn money for their student music accounts.
Fair Parking Sign-Up
In May of each year, a large sign-up board will be circulated at the spring music events and posted in the High School Band Room to allow both students and parents to reserve shifts for Fair Parking. After this initial sign-up period, an electronic verison of the sign-up board will be created and posted on this website, and a link to an electronic form will be added here which will enable students and parents to sign up for remaining available shifts throughout the spring and into the summer on a "first come, first served" basis.
Earning for Student Accounts
Friends of Music maintains individual student music accounts, which can be utilized to supplement music lessons, pay for music related trip expenses, purchase music supplies (such as reeds, strings, etc.), or assist in paying for a variety of other music related items. For every assigned hour of Fair Parking that a student works, he/she will be credited $5.00 to his/her student music account. Similarly, adults (parents, older siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.) who work Fair Parking will also be credited $5.00 for each assigned hour worked, which they must designate to a student music account of their choice.
Website Sign-ups for Fair Parking a Success for 2008
For the first time ever and because of the implementation of the new Friends of Music website, 2008 was the inaugural year that reservations for Fair Parking shifts were available via the Internet.
This feature of the FOM website proved to be very successful, as more than 50% of all reserved shifts were secured on-line.
Adults especially enjoyed this feature, as more than 8 of 10 adult shifts were filled via the Internet.
